And the hits keep coming....I need an explanation of your statement. What is your statement without substantiation? I can see how the military may be percieved as socialistic, but the government doesn't "own" the military, it is chartered by the Constitution to provide one. Hence, a government for the people, by the people is the government and hence the military is a constitutional right for the people to have. If you want less of a military, vote those people into office....But let us review the military budget that just got in under this administration. Not all democrats opposed it......hmmmm maybe this administration isn't all bad?????
But still I'd really like to know why you work for the government FWM, if it is soooooo evil?

Just referring to military structure...uniform...oath...taking orders and not questioning them.
Nothing bad (or evil) in itself there...just stating fact. Not sure why some take it as an offense.

I thought for sure your answer to the bolded question above was going to be:
HOPE & CHANGE!

LAWFUL orders...Believe me....it's not a grunt factory anymore...There are more educated people in the military now than you can believe....the 22 enlisted under my charge fall into these demographics:
7 Caucasians - 60% - 2 year degree; 45% - 4 year degree
6 Mexican Americans - 50% - 2 year degree; 30% - 4 year degree
4 African America - 100% - 4 year degree 50%- Master's
4 Pacific/Asian - 25% - 2 year degree
1 Pakistani-American - 100% 4 year degree
Their dedication is to make things BETTER, do more with less, and do it right the first time is not BLINDLY doing anything.....
They question everything to ensure there isn't better way of doing things......
Your understanding of the military is severely lacking.
Change national policy, change security policy, and rewrite treaties to reduce our liability and turn over world matters to the UN.
Oh, and in this economy, how many of these people are going to increase the unemployment numbers?

How many of those "educated" recruits believed (or still believe) we went to war in Iraq because they had WMD's that were a threat to us, and that Iraq had ties to AL Qaeda before 9/11 attacks?
Actually, come to think of it...there was a soldier who spoke out against our presence in Iraq.
His name was Pat Tillman.
His reward was that he got fragged by his own soldiers.
Then the Army lied about his death.

Fragged? I had not heard that. I did hear friendly fire. Do you know what "fragged" means?

How many of those recruits are following the national policies of this administration?

Dude, how is the weather at conspiracy central? The simple facts of that case are: soldier screwed up, shot a friendly. Tried to cover up, got caught WAAAAY after the lie propogated throughout the world. Spoke out against the war????...He walked away from millions of dollars to serve his country in a war instead of sit back on a cushy football salary.....
Please provide "reliable" source for his "misgivings" of the war.
I'll remember the hero that heeded the call!!!

I forgot to ask, when you have a teenager on the "ignore" list on the other board, why doesn't it transfer to this board?

Frixxx,
You gotta be kidding me???
You never heard about Pat Tillman speaking out against the Iraq War and Bush's policies? You just got thru telling me how well educated the soldiers under you are...so I guess I made the naive assumption you were even brighter than them. Don't you guys read any papers other than Stars&Stripes?
So lets see...many different sources from a google search...we'll use this article from the San Francisco Chronicle.
http://articles.sfgate.com/2005-05-2...n-mary-tillman
"There was a lot more depth to Tillman, who was pursuing a master's degree in history, than one would normally expect of an NFL gladiator. Afghanistan had been an easier sell, but Tillman would never buy the official line on Iraq. At one point, according to a San Francisco Chronicle article published nearly a year and half after his death, he told fellow Rangers fighting in Iraq that the war was, "so ****ing illegal." A close friend told the paper, "That's why he was-he totally was against Bush." Tillman's mother clarified, explaining that her son believed the Afghanistan war was justified by the September 11th attacks but "Pat was very critical of the whole Iraq War." Another friend, who served with him, recalled how Tillman admonished fellow Rangers to vote Bush out of office in the forthcoming presidential election. "
The sources of Pats direct quotes are his fellow Rangers who served with him, as well as Tillmans own mother.
Do you remember now? Or is this somehow the first you've heard of this? This story was all over the news for at least 3 years after his assasination (err, I mean friendly fire cover-up).

Son,
Unless you can bring something of substance to the conversation...maybe you should sit this one out.
